We have a new position for an Assistant Carpenter/Joiner to join our modern furniture workshops in Newhaven.

We are ideally looking for a newly trained joiner or cabinet maker with some previous work experience. The successful applicant will start as an assistant and gain experience as they work and progress. There are opportunities for career development for the right person as skills and abilities improve.

We would like someone with a passion for woodwork, a great eye for detail and who is keen to progress their skills and grow within our company.

Skills

• Knowledge of carpentry, woodwork, cabinet making or joinery
• Measuring and marking wood according to technical designs
• Cutting wood on machines or by hand
• Good attention to detail
• Knowledge of maths
• Ability to work well with others
• Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• Ability to use power tools, and to maintain tools
• Ability to work on your own
• Sensitivity and understanding
• Ability to carry out basic tasks on assembly
• Working with suppliers
• Working to a job brief
• Using a range of equipment from traditional tools to state-of-the-art computerised cutting equipment

The opportunity to work in a small friendly team. We can offer some training and guidance to support you in reaching a good skillset.

A full time, permanent position.

Salary is dependent on skill set and experience

£17,000 – £22,000 pa

Hours of work

Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm
